[edit] Positions in the Cayuco
- Pacer: Person sitting closest to the bow of the cayuco and whose responsibility is to count the stroks per side, call the switches and set the stroke rate for the rest of the team.
- Power House: Person sitting behind the Pacer, whose only responsibility is to paddle all the time.
- Bailer: Person sitting in front of the Steer and that has the responsibility of bailing out the undesired water accumulations inside the boat.
- Steer: Person sitting closest to the stern of the cayuco, whose responsibility is to coordinate and control the direction of the boat.
[edit] The Captain
The Captain of a Cayuco Race Team is elected by the members of the team, regardless of the position this person occupies in the boat. However, in most of the cases the captain is the steer of the boat. This person is in charge of representing his or her team before CREBA.
