Banana Channel, Section of the Gatun Lake
- sp. Canal Banana
First major section of the 2nd stretch of the Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race. It starts at the Tiger Islands and ends at Bohio Reach. This section of the Lake is characterized by round red and green buoys that mark the path to follow for cayuco paddlers, and by waves throughout the whole section. For the first half of the Banana Channel waves hit diagonally on the left side of the cayuco and for the later half, on the stern of the boat.
The Banana Channel conditions can be chaotic (lots of waves and wind!) if paddled late in the morning or in the afternoon.
