The Balboa Yacht Club Cup is a LENGTH MILES race and is the second race event event of the Cayuco Race Season, and it designed to test the steering capabilities of the competing cayuco teams. The race is hosted by the Melia Panama Canal Hotel and it takes place in the Gatun Lake in the facilities of this resort. The Melia Panama Canal Hotel is located in Espinar, Colon, Rep. of Panama.

The 2005 Atlantic Cup was sponsored by the Banco Continental and took place in the Colon Yacht Club.
Prizes & Race times
Medals are given to each member of the crews finishing in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category (best 3 overall times for each category). First places of each category win the Cup for this event.
This event is divided in two parts:
- First, all the Teams from the Juvenile Category depart.
- Ten minutes later, all the teams from the Open Category depart.

The First Atlantic Cup was celebrated in 2001 and has an approximate length of LENGTH. It is a 2 laps race in the Gatun Lake and it is hosted usually by the Melia Panama Canal Hotel.

The race takes place a saturday/sunday morning, the last weekend before Carnivals. This is a typical race itinerary:
- 05:30 A.M. Colocación de Boyas, J. Bates y M. Macmillan. - Bouys setup, J. Bates and M. Macmillan.
- 06:30 A.M. Salida de Panamá: Cross Road Church - Departure from Panama: Cross Road Church.
- 07:30 A.M. Reporte de Botes Escolta en el Acquativity Center del Melia Panama Canal Hotel - Escort Boats report at Acquativity Center del Melia Panama Canal Hotel.
- 08:00 A.M. Inspección de botes - Boats inspection.
- 09:00 A.M. Reunión de Capitanes - Captains meeting.
- 09:15 A.M. Ingreso de Botes al agua - Boats to the water - Captains and Race Master race course inspection.
- 09:15 A.M. Recorrido con el Maestre de Regata en 4 botes escolta .
- 09:45 A.M. Partida hacia meta - Boats paddling to the Start line.
- 10:00 A.M. Inicio de Carrera - Race start.
- 12:00 A.M. Almuerzo - Lunch
- 01:00 P.M. Premiación - Awards Ceremony.
